Awkward Turtles
Almost always, you get to a point in any relationship where you don’t know what to say to the person across from you, even though there is a huge lingering silence in the room. What do you do to avoid awkward turtles? You blab whatever comes to your mind. But how many times does that blab lead to something even more awkward.

One of the most difficult things in life is becoming conscious enough of your own speech to make sure that every word you give some one is for their benefit. And that doesn’t mean entering into a constant passive niceness; everyone needs know when they’re acting wrongly. But next time you reply to a text, answer an email, or respond to someone’s question give yourself 5 seconds to make sure that your words will not divide or destroy; make sure you are speaking in love.

Read that again. God has not given us a spirit of fear. All our fears and worst nightmares come from somewhere else. And you want to know what’s awesome about that?
Every spirit and thought that comes from God is the truth. The spirit of fear, since it doesn’t come from God, is a deceitful liar. And here’s the awesome thing about liars: the opposite of whatever they say is true! So next time you have that thought pass through your head again, whether it’s that you’re inadequate, ugly, or weak, remember that the opposite is true: you are perfectly filled by God, beautifully made be God, and so strong in God that you can do anything. Let this sink in; whatever lies you are being fed right now, they are false (that’s why they’re called lies) and the opposite is true. After you grasp the truth, praise God for making everything so awesome!

I’m tired of hearing people say that they are stuck in the old way of living because of their sin nature. You are a new creation in Christ and you can do anything through Him. Act like it, because you can.
